Laminate Flooring in the Bedroom?

You’d choose hardwood, stone or tile as your bedroom flooring wouldn’t you?

That said, if your budget is too tight for either, wouldn’t a great installation alternative be something that looks remarkably like wood, tile or stone, but wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg?

Style and Savings Your Floor Will Love

Laminate sales are going through the roof at Completely Floored. We’re finding, more and more, that this material is quickly becoming one of the most popular materials around.

Take a look on that social media site, Pinterest, and you will see an installation everywhere, from the bedroom to stairs. The site gives some great design ideas!

This flooring is incredibly similar in look to the “real thing” (thanks to modern technology), and that makes it the perfect installation for the bedroom.

Examples include wood-looks with various species, and in patterns like Herringbone or Chevron. They come in wide, traditional or even parquet strips. To make it even more realistic, textures, such as embossed or hand-scraped, are also available.

You can get “tile” in an assortment of colors and patterns, or stone-looks, such as marble and slate.

Other Reasons to Love it

Easy installation. With either click-and-lock or glue-down methods it could be a do-it-yourself project, but we always recommend hiring a professional laminate floor installer, especially since you’ll you might come across challenges like uneven or damp sub-floors.

High durability.  It is scratch and moisture resistance, stands up to wear and tear, because the clear plastic wear layer makes it virtually impossible to “walk off” the photographic image.  If you are installing it in a kids’ bedroom. Well, you know how tough kids can be on floors, so you’ll really appreciate this.

Easy to clean. Sweep or damp mop (always avoid excess water). For a more thorough cleaning, use a manufacturer-approved soap.

Budget-friendly.  Compare it to hardwood, which comes from harvested trees, and you’ll see the materials here are much less expensive.  (Caveat: Don’t go for the cheapest bargain-basement prices, because you will get what you pay for! Quality will suffer someplace, and the least expensive is also the thinner. Also, don’t skimp on the underlayment; they absorb noise, hide small imperfections, and add cushioning.)
